Pier-and-Beam
Pier-and-beam construction (often found in older homes) is designed to distribute loads on a wood beam supported by piers in direct contact with the ground. The movements in your pier-and-beam foundation is usually due to settlement and can be easily corrected.
Exterior concrete beam or (or grade beam) settlement is corrected with concrete or steel pressed piers using the same installation process for slab foundations. Interior settlement is corrected by lifting the beam off of its support and either adding or removing shims. All shims are steel, and comply with all cities ordinances.
